First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
Marketing Project Manager
I was ghosted after getting to the final interview stage and being told I was a finalist. No follow up from HR or the hiring team. I found out the position was filled through word of mouth.
- What's your strategy for handling numerous, conflicting priorities?
Intern
It was pretty simple, the interviewers and team were great. I had one phone call, and then about a week later, I went in for an in-person interview. There were two people there, and it lasted about an hour. Really nice experience overall.
- Can you tell me a little about yourself?
- What are your career goals and aspirations?
- What is your knowledge of this museum?
Coordinator
There were 3 interviews in total. The first one was a phone screen. The second interview was with the HR Manager and Department Manager. The third interview involved the same two people from the second interview, plus other coordinators and managers I might work with. Unfortunately, I didn't get an offer, which was disappointing given how much time I had to take off for the interviews. While I get they wanted the right fit, I felt the process was a bit too drawn out and involved for what the job is.
- How do you manage your organization?
- How effectively do you collaborate within a team environment?
Graphic Designer
So first, HR gave me a call for an initial interview, and they also did a background check. Then, I had a few group interviews with people from different departments. After that, I had an interview over lunch with the art department to meet the team.
- Can you share some information about your background and previous work experience?
- Could you elaborate on your past work and projects?
- How did you handle similar situations in your previous roles?
