Group

I was prepared in college coursework for a group interview and my first ever interview was a group interview. In a group interview, if you can, the best option is to be the first person answering the questions. Everyone else tends to base their answers along the lines of what you said. You basically set the tone. I was nervous, but I was the first one to answer questions.

After I talked with the recruiter, HR set up 3 interview rounds. The first round was with regional or store HR. The second round was with the store manager(s). The final round was with corporate people. The interview was about my background and experience, and they evaluated my people skills.

Behavioral Technical

The first interview went well and they seemed very interested since I had all the relevant experience from the advertisement. The next step was interviewing with the direct supervisor and it was going well for thirty minutes. They then mentioned a specific Oracle software agreement and I didn't have that one specific skill, which wasn't emphasized in the advertisement or first interview. The interview ended abruptly. They said they would have a second position coming up and I asked if I might qualify for it. He said I may want to apply when that comes in the summer. I reached out to HR and suddenly that Oracle software was a huge thing and she brushed me off. I have interviewed for a lot of similar jobs over the years but nothing like this happened before. Maybe it is some restructuring thing where things aren’t clear. If Oracle was so important why did they choose me at all. Oddest situation I have been involved in.

So first there was a screening round. Then I had an onsite round where they asked me about the tech stuff on my resume. After that, I had a round with the hiring manager, which was a mix of technical and behavioral questions. Finally, there was an HR round with some simple questions about my past experience.
