We started with a quick call to chat about my background and if I'd be a good fit. Then, I had two video chats with some team folks to really dive into what the job involves and what they expected, plus my own experience. The last thing was going in person to meet everyone and check out the office.

The interview process was really clear and upfront. It started with a quick 15-minute chat with the recruiter, followed by a 45-minute Zoom meeting with the hiring manager. Then, there was a 30-minute Zoom call with the SVP of Marketing. There weren't any tricky questions, no homework, and no tests. They talked about the job and the company and asked about my past work, how I like to work, some technical stuff about Paid Search, my experience with agencies, and managing clients. I also had plenty of time to ask my own questions.

Technical Behavioral Case

First, I chatted with an in-house recruiter to make sure the job requirements seemed like a good fit. Then, I had an interview with some Team Leads that covered both technical aspects and behavioral questions. After that, I interviewed with the Technical Director, which was a bit technical but mostly behavioral, and they presented me with some mock scenarios to see how we'd work together.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I went through the interview process in January, with the goal of them filling the role by mid-February. Interestingly, as of April, the position remains unfilled. The current job market for creatives in late 2023 and early 2024 has been the most unusual I've experienced in my 24-year career, with an unprecedented number of highly skilled senior creatives seeking employment. I had a total of 5 interviews, speaking with 8 different people. While everyone was pleasant, I noticed a pattern of being asked the same questions across all interviews. This, combined with the prolonged hiring timeline despite numerous candidates and a rich talent pool, suggests significant issues with their process. My impression is that they lack internal trust and are focusing on finding reasons to reject candidates rather than identifying reasons to hire. The entire experience felt repetitive, as if they were conducting the same evaluation repeatedly, seemingly searching for flaws, reminiscent of 'Groundhog Day'.
