First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Neff.
Account Executive
The interviewer made me wait 30 minutes to interview. Afterwords we spoke very briefly, I was shocked that I was required to wait so long. The experience was good otherwise.
- What are your salary expectations?
Creative Director
I applied to Neff without much prior knowledge of their work, thinking they were a regional, mid-level company. Despite some initial reservations and red flags, I engaged in the process. The first round involved one phone call and two in-person meetings, after which I was rejected. Unexpectedly, three months later, they contacted me again. I had a one-hour Zoom call with the owner who explained the situation with the first hire and their decision-making process, which I found plausible. He blamed the staff involvement in the initial interviews for the wrong choice, a major red flag for me. We then scheduled a third in-person interview with the owner and HR. Just before this, the job was reposted online, which caused concern as I was assured it wasn't a new search. HR confirmed it was just due diligence. During this time, I was asked how I'd handle explaining a recent CD departure to clients, which surprised me. Weeks later, after hearing nothing, I followed up and was told the process was ongoing. Given the extended timeline and circumstances, I withdrew my application, feeling I was a backup option rather than a serious contender. The experience felt disingenuous and disrespectful, ultimately a waste of my time.
- How would you explain to clients that the Creative Director they were just introduced to is no longer with the company?
Marketing Associate
It was a skype video call with three associates, pretty standard interview questions. They asked a lot about the company and wanted to know what I knew and what I thought about it. It was kind of intimidating.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Why did you choose to apply to our company?
Intern
I interviewed with a few folks from the PR and Social Media team. We talked about my background, experience, and specific interests, and what I wanted to get out of this internship. I also got a tour of the office.
- What skills do you possess that would benefit this internship?
