I sent in my resume and cover letter to the email, and then I was asked to come into the office for an interview. They wanted me to bring some materials from an event I planned before and to give a presentation about the whole participant experience at that event. I really liked that I got to lead the interview and show off projects I'd done. I met with four marketing team members. They were happy to answer my questions about the job, career paths, and personal growth. The interview lasted about two hours, and it was the best one I've ever had.

I filled out an online questionnaire and then got a call about a chat job as an independent contractor for Overstock.com in Home & Garden. They asked about my experience and interest in home & garden. Since I had experience with interior designers, renovations, and gardening, they invited me to learn their system and then do a certification chat. I passed the certification chat, which was like a regular customer chat, and was asked to start working right away. As it happened, they hired a bunch of us at once, then let us all go about 10 days later. It felt like a waste of time.

It started with an internet chat to gauge my understanding of the brand and then a simulated conversation with a customer about product benefits, company policies, and common online shopping questions. It was pretty chill and straightforward, though the interview was handled by a contractor for Needle, not someone in-house.

I started with a call with the VP of Customer Success to see if I was a good fit. He then set up an in-person interview where I met individually with the whole Customer Success Team. Great talks with everyone! After that, I met the VP of Sales. I missed meeting the President because he was traveling, but he has to approve all new hires now. Overall, it felt really good.
