HR called me to see if I wanted to interview and I accepted even though I didn't have retail experience. The store manager interview was good, they talked about the company and expectations. They offered me a job and I accepted because I wanted to try something new. We signed the contract and I started training a few days later. The training lasted 4 hours where my colleagues and manager taught me about products and demonstrations. In the end, they terminated my contract because they felt I wasn't suitable and wanted someone with experience. I felt my time was wasted. Please tell HR to hire experienced staff and post jobs properly, and don't waste people's time.

So I got this interview, right? They told me I'd be talking to the customer care manager and HR first. But on the interview day, the HR person told me the manager wasn't there. I ended up talking to her the whole time about my past jobs. I had to ask her about the company and what the job was all about. Then she said she wanted to set up another interview with HR. I was like, okay. The next week, I met with another HR person. She asked me the same stuff. At the end, she asked if I could meet with someone more senior the week after to see if I was a good fit. I said sure. But then the next week, I got an email saying they weren't moving forward with my application. They said I could apply for other jobs, though. It felt like a waste of my time, honestly, and I don't think they were serious about the interview from the start.

The first interview with corporate went well and made me want to learn more about the company. However, red flags appeared during the second interview with the district manager. She was a little late to the interview, which is usually fine, but she was still chewing food when she joined the call. She immediately started talking about how busy she was and suggested we'd have to rush the interview, which felt off. She mentioned that to be hired for these roles, you needed experience one level up – like District Manager experience for a Store Manager role, or at least Store Manager experience for an Assistant Manager role. I tried to clarify my roles and experience, but she interrupted and claimed to know how all the different places operated, even though she couldn't possibly know the details of my interim roles. She cut me off during my second question for her because she had another meeting, but said we'd finish our discussion in the third interview. She asked me to send three dates I was available. I was already concerned about being underpaid for a role I was overqualified for (though I figured commission would make up for it), and she also mentioned a poor work/life balance. Still, I was open to learning more. I sent the requested dates and times but never heard back, and a follow-up message was also ignored. So, while the HR interview was good, the district manager showed unprofessionalism and a lack of communication.

You'll meet with the HR Director one-on-one. The interview is pretty chill, mainly about your personality. We're building a family here, so shared values are key, and that's what this interview shows. There are two interviews before you meet the owners. The owners are super happy and welcoming, which takes away all the usual interview stress!
