The interview was a mix of remote and in-person interviews with people from the newsroom and senior editorial folks. Questions were generally about my experience and the job description.

It was a great process with three steps. First, there was a phone call, then a meeting with a small group of people, and finally, a meeting with a larger group. They spent time asking about my past experiences and my relationships at my previous workplace. There was also time dedicated to discussing how to resolve issues.

It was a pretty standard process. First, a recruiter call, then a technical screen. They didn't ask any algorithm questions. Instead, we talked about my past experience. There were some basic questions about RDBMS and OOD, like the difference between where and having clauses, and principles of OOP, and how Java garbage collector works. They also asked about polymorphism, overriding and overloading.

So, after submitting my application, the first interview was pretty easy. I was asked journalism-related questions and had to explain my suitability for the role to the interviewer. It was a relaxed chat, but you really needed to know your stuff about NBC News, journalism, and this program. Make sure you have that down. Doing some market research beforehand can also really help show you're prepared and a good fit.
