It started with a recruiter call, then two online tests that took 90 minutes total. After two weeks, I interviewed with the hiring manager. Four weeks went by with no word, and when I followed up, the recruiter was radio silent. Finally, the hiring manager let me know they had gone with someone else.

Behavioral

The interview process involved a recruiter call followed by a phone screen. A key part of the interview was a question asking to describe a time when you used your understanding of a client’s needs to identify a solution (for example, a product or service). You could interpret "client" broadly, like a co-worker or manager. In your response, you needed to include: • The actions you took to identify the individual’s needs – walk us through that conversation • Why you felt the solution you proposed was the best fit for that individual • How you positioned the solution to the individual and overcame any objections

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Tell me about a situation where you identified a client's needs and proposed a solution (product or service). What steps did you take to understand their needs, why was your solution the best fit, and how did you present it and handle any pushback?

I was first contacted by a recruitment agency over the phone. After that, I had a zoom group interview with the director of counseling services and the department trainer. During the interview, we listened to a recorded call to get a feel for a typical day. The interviewers asked a lot of unique questions, not just the usual "what are your greatest strengths and weaknesses" type. I was offered the job the same day. When I started, there were several weeks of training, including call shadowing, before I began working independently.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • When it comes to tasks, is it preferable to perform many tasks adequately, or to excel at just one?

The hiring process is long and involves multiple visits. There are many phone and keyboard tests, which are simple and focus on speed. Since the office is in New Jersey, there are 3 phone interviews. If you can type fast and have a pleasant phone voice, there's a good chance you'll be hired. Prior experience is needed, but not much.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • How would you handle an angry customer on the phone, aiming to de-escalate and resolve the situation?
