First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Navan.
Am
The recruiter contacted me and I agreed to talk. We scheduled the first call, but they emailed me 10 minutes before to say they couldn't make it. They then rescheduled for later in the week, which I accepted. The day before the new interview, I asked for confirmation and the correct meeting link. Hours later, they updated it with the wrong time. It's frustrating when you have to repeatedly contact recruiters about basic errors with scheduling and rescheduling. It reflects poorly on the company. Navan's mission is to save businesses time and money, but they didn't seem to follow their own standards from the start. It was a joke.

Account Manager
I applied online and got a call from a recruiter in under a week. We had a 30-minute meeting set up, but it wrapped up in about 15 minutes. It wasn't a back-and-forth conversation or very engaging. She didn't really respond to or follow up on anything I said. Once she realized I was missing one requirement, she seemed to lose interest, looked away from the screen, and didn't take any notes. I've never felt so disrespected. I saw some negative reviews about their company culture, but I figured I'd try it out because their product seemed interesting. This experience confirmed those bad reviews.

Account Manager
I reached out to the hiring manager and she set up a call right away. It was an introductory and casual chat, which I liked. Then, I talked to a recruiter who was really nice and asked standard questions about salary expectations, start date, etc. After that, I had a 30-minute peer interview over the phone, which was also casual and friendly. They asked about my general understanding of the company and why I wanted to join. It was a good chance to ask questions and learn more about the role since it was a new team. I was told I'd be moving to the next stage, which involved interviewing with four people at the NYC office from sales, customer success, air supply, and hotel supply. I thought it was a great opportunity to meet potential colleagues and discuss the team's culture, challenges, strengths, and weaknesses. I noticed that people from other departments didn't really grasp the role I was interviewing for and seemed to just have a list of questions. Only the person from hotel supply seemed knowledgeable about the job. The only drawback was not interviewing with the hiring manager in person, which I think matters. But overall, I enjoyed the interview process. Everyone, from recruiters to team members, was very friendly and nice. Benita, the recruiter, was great and kept communication open the whole time. They ended up going with another candidate, but the interview process was smooth and fast, which I appreciated.
