First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Naval Sea Systems Command.
Project Engineer
The interview with NAVSEA was a breeze and the folks I spoke with were really nice. They explained the whole process clearly and in an organized way. They answered all my questions pretty quickly. Overall, I had a great experience with the interview.
- Can you tell me where you are from?
Engineer
I first spoke with the company at their career fair booth, and they gave me a campus interview. About a week after that, I had a phone interview. Four different people called in for this interview, each with a different role, and they each asked questions one by one, which was a good experience. They told me to apply online after that, but I didn't hear back for 3-4 weeks and found out I didn't get the job. Quick tip: When you apply online, really pay attention to the Grade levels. I think I picked one too high, and this might have prevented my application from reaching the hiring managers because it's all automated.
- What aspects of welding do you find most appealing?
- Would you have an issue with relocating?
- Describe your biggest weakness and the steps you're taking to address it.
Engineer
I got selected for an interview at my college's career fair because of my high GPA and because I grew up near the company. About a week later, the hiring manager came back to campus to interview me. It was about an hour and totally behavioral questions. Two weeks after that, I got a call from HR offering me the co-op position. We didn't talk about salary. The department I worked in was decided on my first day, which was 6 months later.
- Tell me about a time you faced conflict within a group.
- Where do you see yourself working in 10 years?
