About two weeks after I sent in my CV and cover letter, they sent me a shortened manuscript to edit. Another couple of weeks passed, and then I got invited for an interview. They only gave me 48 hours' notice, which made it tough to schedule since I'm already employed. Anyway, the interview itself lasted about 2.5 hours. An hour of that time was dedicated to an editing test. There were 3 interviewers, and they were pretty friendly and easy to chat with. Unfortunately, I never heard back from them after the interview. My follow-up email didn't get a response either. I thought that was quite strange and, honestly, a bit rude. I guess I might have dodged a bullet by not getting the job.

Had a phone chat with the Chief Editor. Then did a written task where I had to review some papers from the journal, come up with review ideas, and suggest ways to make the journal better. Got an interview soon after and then a job offer. The interview included a manuscript test and some casual chats with other editors. The salary offer was surprisingly low compared to what the Chief Editor first said, and negotiating was really hard. The whole process from start to finish was super quick.
