Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NATO.
Intern
It was a few steps. First, I sent in my CV and answered some questions about my studies and why I wanted to do the internship. Then, there was a test of my thinking skills. The next part, which I didn't get to, was a verbal interview I would have had to do myself.
- How does your academic and professional background align with the requirements of this internship?
Intern
First, you gotta upload your CV and answer some pre-selection questions. Then, they might invite you to a game based intelligence test. After that, maybe a pre-recorded online interview, and then a panel interview. Finally, they make a decision.
- Can you tell me about your expertise in your subject area?
- What do you know about and are interested in regarding a specific issue?
- How do you think you are qualified to complete this task?
Intern
First, I filled out an application with tons of info about my background (studies, certs, work history, references) and skills for the internship. If I got past that, I had to do a Hirevue assessment in two parts. The first part was a game-based assessment (calculus, memory, sequences) plus over 100 personality questions. The second part was a pre-recorded interview. The next step would have been an HR interview, but I didn't make it that far, so I'm just sharing what I heard about that part.
- What makes you a strong candidate for this role?
- What prompted your departure from your last job to pursue this opportunity?
- How do your academic pursuits and extracurricular activities align with the requirements of this position?
