First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Native Instruments.
Software Developer
The initial part of the interview process was pretty standard, mostly getting to know you. After that, there was a technical interview where I had to complete a simple coding challenge on my own. We then discussed the code challenge with some team members I'd be working with. Following that, I met with the entire team so they could get acquainted with me and ask some questions. If everything went well, an offer would follow. It took a bit for them to review my application initially, but once September started, things moved really fast, and I got the offer in under a month.
- Can you tell me about areas where you see room for personal growth?
Campaign Manager
The interview process involved a 30-minute initial chat with a Talent Acquisition partner, followed by a 45-minute meeting with the Hiring Manager and a team member. The overall process was straightforward and the people I spoke with were nice. They didn't provide very specific feedback at the end, though.
- Tell me about a time a campaign you managed didn't go as planned and how you responded.
- Can you share an instance of a disagreement within a team and how you resolved it?
- What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of this brand's current communication strategy?
PR & Brand Partnerships Intern
I applied for a student level internship at NI and was initially excited by the company's mission of innovation in music tech and massive name power. The early stages of the process were seamless. 3 rounds of interviews, and 1 test task to write a press release for a fictional product. However, I was disappointed with how it concluded. Some of the interviews were abruptly cancelled (sometimes within the hour) and it pushed back the process by 3-4 weeks, only for me to hear back within 2 weeks of when I was projected to start. I was rejected shortly after missing the final interview due to a health issue. I did not sign an NDA or any contract before submitting the test task, which made me worry about their use of my IP without credit/compensation. The rejection cited a lack of "PR and Brand Experience" (surprising, given the role was described as student level with no prior experience required). I wish the process was considerate of applicant circumstances and reflected the advertised expectations. Transparency around how the test tasks are used would have gone a long way.
- How do you manage your time and deadlines?
Product Designer
The interview process at Native Instruments was very easy and fast. It started with a call with the talent acquisition partner, then I spoke with the design manager. After that, I did a website analysis task and finished with a final interview with different team members. Everyone was super nice, professional, and friendly which made me feel very comfortable. They were also very responsive. When I told them I was talking to other companies, they sped things up because they were really interested in me. Their quick replies and clear excitement made me accept their offer. I'd totally recommend working at NI if you love music and like a good, supportive work environment.
