& Process

It's a multi-stage process for bringing new folks on board. We mostly do interviews, sometimes it's just you and me, sometimes a group of candidates, or a panel. Interviews can happen face-to-face, over the phone, through email, or using video calls.

They tested my basic domain knowledge and experience. It was a formal and healthy process. They didn't try to stress me out or corner me. I got an outcome. Salary is okay, and the timing is general shift. I will be working under a scientist and will get good exposure to the domain.

They called around 8 candidates for the Developer position. The best part is they give the reimbursement for flying from another city and back. Worst thing it was for Big data role and to my surprise in a panel of 8 people nobody asked me a single question about BIg Data. They gave some puzzle and then one coding round followed by one more Code evaluation. I think they dont have a single person who is expert in big data, all they want some simple guy who can code.

So the interview has some basic questions about the IT field, eGovernance, and how government offices work internally. They're also interested in the organizational structure within the central/state government. The panel is typically made up of officers from the central government, an HR officer, and importantly, IT officers from the state you're applying to, who could be IAS or departmental officers.
