First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at National Income Life.
Insurance Agent
I spent about two weeks training for this interview. The main task was to memorize a four-page script. I then had to present this script to the company owner, and it turned out to be something I'd be using throughout my job.
- Could you tell me what your family does for a living?
Insurance Agent
The interview process was great, quick, and friendly, and very easy going. Everyone was very nice and helpful and answered all my questions. I met the person in charge. They also took time to tell me a bit about the position and what the process would be like in terms of preparing for the job.
- Can you introduce yourself and describe your past experiences?
Insurance Agent
Got a call and screened for an interview the next day, though the company name seemed different. The office entrance was a bit spooky and unmarked, which made finding it difficult. About 10 people were scheduled at the same time. I made the first cut, which was a quick 3-4 minute face-to-face chat where I was cut off when I started asking questions. Five of us moved on to the next stage, a presentation in a conference room where we were encouraged to participate. I was initially excited, but my enthusiasm waned after researching the company at home and reading some mixed reviews. Ultimately, I didn't make the final cut, which I'm now relieved about, especially since I have offers from Prudential, New York Life, AFLAC, Colonial Life, and Allstate. It seems like the decisions were based on the presenter's opinion of our answers and appearance, rather than our background or skills. Note that this job requires a laptop and a car.
- Were there any questions asked during the presentation where we were encouraged to participate?
