The interview process was pretty standard, however follow up was sorely lacking. I did a phone screen and then was asked to come in for a panel interview. I got a call back for another interview with directors of the department (unsure if this was typical or because they were out during my first interview). The whole process took about a month and a half from the date of my first phone contact. I received a call from HR letting me know I was a finalist and that they were conducting a background check which turned out to be a lot more extensive than I thought, especially the contribution required of my references. They even sent an email detailing the benefits package for employees. After that, radio silence. I gave it three weeks then followed up with HR and didn't hear back for about another two weeks. When they finally contacted me I was told that they had yet to make a decision and that I should hear back within another week or so. Afterwards, there was no follow up. I was put off by the lapses from HR and zero communication after being told I would hear back, especially since I was so excited about potentially working for the organization. I get that it's not feasible to respond to everyone that applies at your company, but to have someone complete a background check and tell them they are a finalist for a position and then never even email if they don't get the job was a bit disappointing.

I sent in my application online and after about a month, I got an email to set up an interview. The interview took around 45 minutes and was pretty casual. It mostly focused on my past work experiences. The office itself wasn't huge, but it felt professional, and it was in a building with other well-known companies. The three people who interviewed me were a peer, the program director, and someone senior. They were all friendly and put me at ease. The work atmosphere seemed academic and professional, but not overly formal. Overall, I left with a positive impression of the company, its office, and the staff.
