First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at National Food Group.
Sales Representative
My phone interview seemed to go well. I felt I answered the interviewer's questions thoroughly and thoughtfully, and I also made sure to express my interest in working for the company. The representative mentioned they would likely inform me within "24 to 48 hours" about whether I'd advance to the next stage. After a week with no response, I followed up to ask for an update. I was told that some people were out of the office on PTO and that they "should have a good feel for who is moving forward tomorrow." Another twelve days passed without any news. I sent another email to inquire if I was still being considered. Twenty days later, I sent a third email. That was two days ago and I've heard nothing. HR ghosted me. It was extremely unprofessional. It makes you question wanting to work for a company whose HR department demonstrates such incompetence.
- Could you describe your current job responsibilities?
Buyer
I got a call from a recruiter to set up a phone interview. Then they set up an in-person interview for the next week. I interviewed with someone from HR and an executive. It was about 40 minutes and they mostly went through my resume. The questions weren't too hard. The HR person kept making weird faces. I'm usually not that confident, but I felt like it went pretty well. I didn't get the job because I didn't fit the company culture. I've heard from others who applied here and also didn't get jobs. They're super picky and act like you're lucky to even apply. I kind of think the 'fun' vibe they show is just to hide how bad the work actually is.
- Tell me about your weaknesses.
- What feedback would you expect from vendors?
Receptionist
After I applied, they gave me a call for an initial phone interview. Then, they emailed me to schedule a one on one interview. Everyone was really nice. The reason this job is open is because the company is growing fast. You really need to know about the company from their website before the phone interview. They offer good pay and seem to have a strong family vibe.
- Can you share an instance where you were unable to satisfy a customer and explain how you managed the situation?
- What did you enjoy most about your previous role?
Customer Sales Representative
I applied online and they emailed me to set up a phone interview. It was about 30 minutes and pretty basic. They said they'd call me back in a few days, but they didn't, not a call or an email, nothing. It was really unprofessional. This company talks a lot about being organized and keeping in touch with customers and having good people skills in the job description, so I was surprised they didn't communicate or follow up.
- Can you tell me about your customer service background?
- What is your experience in sales?
