Compliance Analyst
First, there was a phone screen, then an in-person interview, after which I was asked a bunch of standard situational and task-based questions relevant to the job. Being good with people would be helpful. The whole thing felt pretty casual and straightforward.
- How do you manage when you have many deadlines to handle?
Grants Administrator
I had two interviews. The first one was with an HR manager. The second interview was with the same HR manager and also the Manager of Grants Administration. The first interview was mostly about my background and why I'm interested in the foundation. The second interview had a lot of questions about hypothetical situations and how I'd deal with future problems.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- Describe a situation where you had a disagreement with a colleague.
- Tell me about a past mistake at work and how you prevented it from happening again.
Manager
So first I had this screening zoom meeting with HR. She was nice, and it was just a screening interview so she didn't know much about the details of the position and the day-to-day, which is pretty standard. Second I had an in person interview in Washington DC with the hiring manager.
- Could you please introduce yourself?
- What draws you to this particular position?
- Describe a difficult situation you encountered at work and explain how you managed it.
Grants Administrator
I had a phone screen first, and then they had me come in for an in-person interview. When I got there, I was surprised to find myself facing six people asking me questions. They hadn't told me about this beforehand, and I felt totally blindsided.
