First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at National Federation of Independent Business.
Sales Representative
It was a really informative and thorough interview process. The interviewer was clearly knowledgeable. We had a great discussion where I picked up a lot of information. They weren't pushy and allowed me time for further research before getting back to them. It seems like a great place to work, though the job itself is demanding.
- Are you interested in this role, and if so, would you prefer to set up the next interview now or take some time to decide?
Sales Representative
So first, you submit your resume to a recruiter. If that looks good, it goes to the district manager. If the district manager thinks you fit the bill, then you'll have a meeting with the divisional manager. The divisional manager will actually call you personally to set up a time for the interview. In the interview, we'll talk about the company history, like who started it and why. We'll also go over what NFIB is trying to do now and what our future goals are, focusing on the important issues small business owners face today.
- Tell me about your experience with small businesses and how you've worked with them.
- What do you know about our company history?
- Who founded this company and what was their motivation?
Sales Representative
I got an email from a recruiter and replied. We had a phone chat. Then, I was pointed to a website to learn about the company and its product. I had a few days to prep a 5-minute presentation about the company, which I then gave to the recruiter over the phone. They cut me off before 5 minutes and went into more detailed questions. Next, I spoke with a manager on the phone. That manager then set up an in-person interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager scheduled me to shadow a current rep in the field. Meanwhile, I got the on-boarding paperwork via email. After shadowing, I was told it wasn't a good fit after all.
- What are your salary expectations?
