Research Assistant
It was pretty easy, they just asked my past research experience, and it was virtual as well, but the actual job could be in person or not. I also needed to be a UIUC student I believe.
- Tell me about your past research experience.
Research Programmer
I applied directly through their job portal. The interview process spanned two days. The first day involved a one-hour interview, and the second day was a more extensive six-hour session that included a presentation and one-on-one interviews. After completing the interviews, I experienced a complete lack of communication, despite being told to reach out if needed. Even after eight months, I haven't received any rejection or update. HR stated they were still considering my application, but there has been no further response since then. It felt like they were very interested initially, but then communication just stopped.
- They asked questions based on some content from a PDF they had.
Programme Analyst
It was a 45-minute zoom interview. They asked for my preference and then scheduled it. It was a single round with the team lead and project manager. They asked about my past projects, my github, and my experience with linux and python.
- Do you know what a genome is?
- Can you explain Agile as it relates to your resume?
- What is list comprehension in Python?
Research Programmer
The interview process included 18 technical questions and 6 coding questions, which were noted as simple and straightforward. While there wasn't an opportunity for self-introduction, questions were allowed at the end. The pace was quite fast as the interview was expected to last an hour.
- Can you discuss your background in machine learning and data mining?
- Could you explain your understanding of polymorphism?
- What aspects of this role are most appealing to you?
