First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at National 4-H Council.
Assistant Controller
It was a friendly and professional interview. They asked technical questions, background questions, and also an accounting question and answer. The interviewer was patient and understanding, explaining the whole process and making me feel comfortable.
- Can you discuss your knowledge of grant accounting?
Financial Systems Architect
I had an initial chat with HR, then interviewed with the CFO for the Financial Systems Architect role. It seemed like a standard phone screen followed by a conversation with the CFO. The role was presented as a leadership opportunity, but it felt like they were looking more for a senior manager to maintain the status quo rather than someone to drive new ideas or lead. Ultimately, I was ghosted by both the CFO and HR, which was pretty unprofessional.
- Can you share your experience using financial systems specifically for nonprofit organizations?
Graphic Designer
The interview process had 5 rounds. It started with a phone screen, then there were several panel interviews, and an unpaid assessment. I felt like communication was bad because the recruiting team only reached out when it was easy for them and then ghosted me after I wasted so much time and energy. It would have been way better if they at least acknowledged my effort instead of ignoring my follow-up. Really disappointed by how this organization acts.
- Can you describe your approach to time management?
Content Manager
This interview process took almost two months, and I was ghosted before the final round. I got an email for a screening interview, and then didn't hear back for over two weeks. After that, a second interview was scheduled, and again I waited over two weeks to hear back. The interview went well, and I was told they'd respond within a week since they wanted to fill this new role quickly. I didn't hear back, so I followed up with the recruiter after two weeks. I emailed again a week later, and another week has passed. It's unprofessional and unacceptable to be treated this way after investing so much time in preparing, scheduling, and interviewing. The whole process has been extremely drawn out, and the fact that I didn't even receive an automated email saying they chose another candidate, especially when I was in the final stages, makes me feel relieved I didn't get an offer. Companies need to improve and treat candidates with the respect they deserve.
- What is motivating your job search?
