First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nasty Gal.
Merchandiser Administrative Assistant
I had a Teams interview with two staff members. I had to present a SWOT analysis at the end, along with an influencer who should represent their next range.
- Who do you think is the Nasty Gal customer?
Customer Service Representative
The interview was at an industrial area in Emeryville, CA. The interviewer mentioned they are still growing their business. I saw a profile on MSNBC "Your Business" about the company and the founder said they couldn't hire fast enough. About a week later, I had an interview with two people who asked me a broad question about my employment history. I answered it from past to current employment. It seemed like I was interviewed by a manager and co-worker, not HR. About a week later, I got an email saying they went with another candidate out of many. They said they would keep my resume and interview notes on file. This business doesn't seem to be hiring as they claim. I didn't think it was professional for them to email comments about my qualifications, especially since I came from a well-established e-commerce company. It's unprofessional to disqualify applicants and say you'll keep their info on file. I wonder if the founder knows how they treat applicants. Maybe it was because I mentioned a higher wage/salary than the interviewer mentioned, which I got from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- Can you describe your employment history?
Influencer Marketing/PR Specialist
I got the interview through a recruiting agency and it was in-person. I met the girl at her hotel because she was in town from the UK, supposedly just for these interviews. I heard back instantly and was asked to complete a very detailed project. I spent hours working on this after my current job, only to hear nothing for over a month. Finally, I reached out to the recruiter who told me they decided not to hire anyone for the role. Don't interview here unless you want to waste your time and to have creative ideas stolen.
- Which influencers would you suggest we collaborate with?
Graphic Designer
I had a phone interview scheduled, but the interviewer didn't show up, so I waited an hour. We had to reschedule for the next week. The interviewer seemed really unprofessional and not into the conversation at all. It seemed like management was disorganized and unprofessional. I guess I dodged a bullet.
