So before getting hired, you have to attend a week-long training program that costs around $400. This training covers your room, board, and gives you world-class training on how to be a rafting guide. After completing the training, you can apply online. If they like your application, they'll give you a call in mid-spring to offer you a job on the river that you're qualified for. This training week basically acts as an interview, where they observe your soft skills. NOC believes they can teach anyone to be a guide, so they focus on your personality during this time.
