First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nan McKay & Associates.
Human Resources Coordinator
I applied online and then got called for an interview. It was in person and consisted of one round with a panel of interviewers. They had multiple interviews scheduled back-to-back for this position. They asked basic questions about my experience and resume. Be ready to repeat your resume details because it's likely they won't have reviewed it beforehand.
- What is your understanding of Nan McKay?
Housing Specialist
The whole hiring process wrapped up in about a week, leading to an offer for a group interview with management. After that virtual group interview, I was extended an offer, which I accepted. Then there was a week of Hud certification training. You have to get at least an 85% on a 3-hour test at the end. This training felt like a lot of information all at once, with not enough time to really absorb it. I think they should rethink the training or adjust their grading expectations. A bunch of people in my training group didn't pass the test the first time. They let you try up to three times.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in working for Nan McKay?
Program Supervisor
Nan McKay reached out to me for an interview and asked for my availability. I gave them several days/times I could do, but they then confirmed an interview outside of those times. I adjusted my schedule to make it work. When the Zoom interview started, I was in an empty room for 15 minutes until a rushed manager joined, apologizing for being late. We had a decent interview, and she mentioned someone would contact me for an in-person interview, but then... nothing. I sent an email to thank them and got no reply. I followed up the next day about the in-person interview, and still no response. This feels like a very disorganized process with Nan McKay.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience and how you approach your work?
- Describe your working style.
Supervisor
The interview process here is pretty standard. You are contacted by a HR rep who then in turns schedules your interview with 1 or more managers. The manager(s) have a list of predetermined questions that they ask you. Afterwards, you are taken to a computer to do a few quizzes based on the rent calculations and reading comprehension. The quizzes are suppose to be easy but there are a few trick questions.
- In relation to its employees, what do you think a company's main purpose is?
- What are the top 3 skills a manager needs, in your opinion?
- Rent calculations quiz
