Case

The interview process was very easy and not a ton of difficulty. There were 2 quick interviews and then an offer. I found the process to be quite simple and overall I wouldn’t stress too much about it if you were feeling worried about the process.

So the interviews were actually pretty decent, even fun. But man, the communication was just awful. They hit me up for a third interview even though they said the first two would be it. Then it was weeks of just 'we're working on it' with hardly any updates. The person I was dealing with went on PTO, so I talked to different people from the hiring team, but it seemed like they barely talked to each other. When my original contact got back, they told me they'd offered the job to someone else based on experience. Then they asked if I was still available if that offer fell through by a certain date. A few days after that deadline, they told me the other person didn't accept, but they weren't offering me the job anyway because the other guy apparently showed them exactly what they needed. Seriously, why is this only discovered so late? And why couldn't they communicate clearly with each other or me? Different people involved, hardly any info shared, and they were missing deadlines themselves. The actual interviews were fine, enjoyable even. But the rest of it was super unprofessional and it felt like they kept changing their minds. If your interview process is still a work in progress, fine, but don't leave candidates hanging and be so uncommunicative that it messes up the whole hiring thing.

I applied for the Salesforce Administrative role and a recruiter reached out within a day. I then spoke with the hiring manager, bypassing the initial recruiter screening because the recruiter was on vacation. After that, I was given an assignment to complete within 48 hours. The hiring manager was very clear about her expectations. Unfortunately, I didn't pass the assignment stage, but I'm glad I got that far and learned something new in Salesforce I hadn't encountered before.

I applied online for a different, more senior role but the recruiter suggested this Benefits Analyst position, saying I'd be a great fit. My initial phone screen with the hiring manager got postponed due to an emergency, and it took a few days for the recruiter to follow up. After rescheduling, I had an onsite interview about a week later. It was supposed to be a 3-hour session with 3-4 people, including a task involving creating a pivot table, and a meeting with an employee resource group member. However, one interviewer was late, the task didn't happen, and I didn't meet with the ERG member. Most of my time was spent talking with the hiring manager, which went really well. I was told they were interviewing others but would move forward with an offer if feedback was positive. This process then dragged on for weeks, with the recruiter providing weekly updates about still being in the running but facing delays due to other candidates, internal referrals, or a potential move to a more senior role. They also incorrectly stated I was over budget, which was clarified in the first call, and the role's budget seemed to decrease with each conversation. Finally, after weeks of indecision, I was told they chose someone with more aligned experience, despite expressing urgency to hire. The company needs to improve how they handle candidates, be more truthful, and not waste people's time.
