First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NAI Global.
Senior Associate
I applied through a career posting on my MBA site. After a phone interview, they invited me for a day of onsite interviews, usually with 2-6 people in the room at a time. Most of the office gets a run at you, but the questions are mostly straightforward. But, for me they were pretty slow about getting back.
- Why are you interested in this specific role?
- What aspects of Commercial Real Estate (CRE) appeal to you?
- How do your background and relevant coursework prepare you for this role?
Executive Assistant
The initial interview involved meeting with three of the five executives who were available. Following a discussion of my prior work experience and responses to some basic inquiries, including my age, the primary interviewer expressed strong interest and requested to contact my references. The subsequent day, I was invited via text message to join the current EA and the Executive for a casual happy hour the following week, which I accepted. They mentioned this was a monthly gathering. During the happy hour, I initially had water and then ordered a beer after observing their choices. The interactions were pleasant, and we all got along well. I sent a thank-you email the next day. Despite my positive feelings about the experience, the lack of communication throughout this prolonged process was frustrating, especially considering the time commitment required from references. I believe contacting references should ideally occur closer to a hiring decision. After receiving no further communication, I contacted them myself, only to be informed by the receptionist that the position had been filled. I would rate their hiring process very poorly and would have offered constructive feedback if I had been hired.
- Can you describe your past roles?
- What prompted your relocation?
- Could you state your age?
Marketing Coordinator
I talked to the Marketing Director and the CFO for about 30 minutes total. They were nice but got right to it. Instead of asking situational questions, they mainly focused on my resume. I got to ask them some questions about the company, and they really expect you to know your stuff about them, so definitely do your research. After this, I sent thank you emails the next day and both interviewers replied.
- What's prompting your job search away from your present position?
Advisor
It was an online interview via Google Meet, with three interviews in total, the last one being the offer. I had a phone call with the president and a senior advisor. The process was quite streamlined and not too bad, so I took the job. It's been a good experience so far.
- Do you know about cap rates?
- Do you have experience in commercial real estate?
