Product Manager
So first, candidates drop off their resumes, cover letters, and whatever else is needed. Then, recruiters take a peek at all the applications and pick out folks who seem to have the right stuff. After that, there was an HR chat, then a technical part, and finally a round with the director.
- Can you explain how you would design a product roadmap and strategy that aligns with company vision and goals?
Product Support Specialist
The interview process consisted of 3-4 interviews. First was a phone interview, followed by an onsite interview with the team, and then an onsite interview with the manager, all on the same day. The team interview was off-putting due to one team member's rudeness and the others seeming unprepared. The interviewer pressed for a specific answer about a project going wrong, deeming my explanation of completing final touches before the deadline as unacceptable, despite my years of experience where this is common. Interestingly, after I took the job, I found that the very situation the interviewer criticized was a norm for the team, leading to late and questionable client projects and a reduced contract renewal rate due to client dissatisfaction.

Solutions Engineer
I was contacted about the job by a recruiting firm. After their initial screening, I had a first interview with someone from HR or the Hiring team. I have about 9 years of experience relevant to what they were seeking. The conversation went well, and the recruiter let me know the company was interested. Then, I was informed about a mandatory Cognitive Ability Test, which neither I nor anyone I asked had heard of before. It involves answering 50 questions in 12 minutes, with only one attempt allowed, and failure to pass would mean not moving forward. I studied and took practice tests, but was told my score was "too low," although they never disclosed the actual score. They did offer "another chance to pass." I found this requirement absurd and withdrew my application, as this company's reliance on a standardized test, irrelevant to the actual job, over my 9 years of professional skills and accomplishments does not align with my career aspirations.

Support Manager
It started with a 20-25 minute initial screening call where they went over my background and the job details. Then I had a second interview, which is where things went badly. The interviewer was really distracted by their phone, checking messages a lot while I was talking, which felt pretty rude. I wasn't shocked to get an email saying they chose someone else. Honestly, I'm surprised anyone gets hired there. It was a terrible interview experience. Hopefully, you can learn from this.
