First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NACD.
Associate
The interview process had good questions and the people were really nice. They explained the job duties in a clear and concise way! I was happy to find NACD through a recruiting agency. I had some experience with boards before this interview, but I was mostly able to use skills from my last job to answer interview questions about how I would add value to the current role.
- What prior skills can you apply to this position?
Marketing
I went through several interview rounds and then they just ghosted me. It's basic courtesy to at least send a rejection email after candidates have put in time talking with you. Super unprofessional.
- Can you describe your professional experience?
- What experience do you have that is relevant to this role?
Membership Coordinator
I was contacted by leadership in the Membership Department for a casual chat about the job. Then I was invited to the office for a 2-hour interview where I met with 5 different department heads from areas like Marketing, Sales, and HR. They were all super welcoming and positive, and they gave me a thorough overview of NACD. It was an interesting interview because I learned a lot about Corporate Governance and how the organization works. They asked standard questions about my interest in the role and what questions I had about NACD. I'd suggest doing extensive research on the society to keep the conversation going and really put yourself out there.
- Do you have any questions regarding NACD?
- What motivated you to apply for this position?
- What makes you interested in this particular role?
Content Analyst
I had four interviews, spaced about a week apart. Everyone was really nice and welcoming. It started with HR, then my direct manager, then two directors, and finally three people from the content team. The questions were pretty much what I expected. Definitely know what NACD is and what they do, since they ask about it in basically every round.
- Can you explain what NACD is and what it does? Also, what is governance?
- What is governance?
