It was a weird, questionable interview process. We did a bunch of interviews over Zoom, but I never got to visit their office, which made me wonder if it even exists. They also asked for some free design work with a really tight deadline. They asked some really personal questions too. I'd steer clear, it felt unprofessional and disorganized.
- Can you discuss your experience from your most recent position?
- What can you tell me about your experience overall?
Director of Merchandise Planning and Allocation
I had a good first round interview with the hiring manager and at the end of the call, he told me he wanted to move me to the next round with the head of operations. I thanked him and said I was looking forward to it, but did want to disclose that I was pregnant. After I shared this, the company completely ghosted me. This also happened after I followed up and they said the availability email they initially sent "got lost." Disheartening and actually quite discriminatory.
- Can you discuss your experience in your most recent role?
- Can you walk me through your overall background?
Designer
The interview started with an introductory in-person chat where I presented my general portfolio. Then, there was a project assignment with a very loose description that had to be completed in 3 days. The final meeting was with the head of design, who was quite late. The whole process felt pretty laid-back and not overly corporate.
- Could you name a few designers whose work you admire?
