I recently applied for a Communications Strategist - Political Participation job, and it really felt off from the start. A staffing agency initially told me it was a permanent, full-time gig. But when I actually spoke with the company, they made it sound like it was just a temporary thing, with no real chance of becoming permanent. That mismatch in info from the agency and the company was pretty worrying. The interview itself was short and didn't really dive deep into what the job entails, which I'd expect for a role like this. Later, they told me I didn't get it because I lacked direct experience with press management and press releases, but they never even asked me about press releases during the interview. I even have a transcript to prove it. So, either the interview was rushed, or their feedback doesn't match what happened. Plus, when I sent a follow-up email asking some important questions about the job and if it could become permanent, their response was super vague. They said they'd only reply if they were considering me further. This lack of straight answers made me feel like maybe the role, or even the company, isn't very organized or clear about what they want. All in all, the whole process felt messy and didn't lead anywhere productive. It seemed like the main expectations for the role were either not communicated clearly or just not discussed at all. Honestly, I'm glad they decided not to move forward because it became clear it wasn't the right fit for me. But the experience did show me they could really improve their interview and hiring process, especially when it comes to being upfront and communicating clearly.

The interview process for the Summer 2024 Policy Intern Position was stellar! I met with members from the voter participation sector and economic justice sector who asked pointed and targeted questions regarding the position! It was a 30-45 minute interview and I enjoyed it!

There were two interview rounds. The first was with HR, and the second one was with two members from the development team. They asked some standard interview questions like telling me about myself and why I'm interested in the job. It seems like they prefer hiring temps and might offer a permanent position after about 6 months.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I got referred by someone and then HR called me to talk about salary and ask me some questions about my background. Then I had three interviews: one with the HR manager over Skype, one with the attorneys I would support, and one with the COO/Senior Counsels. It was a thorough interview process. Even though there were some communication issues, they really wanted to hire someone and stayed consistent. This is a place for people who want to do great work and be around impressive people. They will vet you well during the interview process.
