The buyer I would be assisting interviewed me. They asked basic questions about my background and future goals. I also had to complete a short Excel test to assess my proficiency, as the role heavily relies on Excel for reporting. I accepted the offer and found the experience valuable.

The process was pretty simple. I applied online and got a call later that week. I called them back and the recruiter asked a few questions before setting up an interview time. The interview itself was quite challenging, maybe the most challenging I've had. My main issue was that I'm a student looking for a full-time summer job, but the position seemed more suited for a year-round, full-time role. I had good retail experience, but I couldn't commit to the full-time schedule, which was likely the main reason I didn't get the job.

I saw the ad on Craigslist from Christmas eve and immediately sent my resume through email. About two weeks later, I got a call back for an interview. The main interviewer was super friendly and open about the job details, and things seemed to be going well. My reference said they had a great time talking to the manager too. When I asked about the salary, wondering if it was really 36k a year, she was a bit vague, saying it depends on hitting my quota, which might be because of the store's location. They'll also give you a basic math test.

You're placed in a cramped, outdated room with an old computer for Excel quizzes to assess your skills, administered by an HR person. Afterward, you meet someone from the team you're applying to, who, in my case, wasn't dressed professionally. Honestly, it made me feel a bit uneasy being interviewed by people who don't seem to care about their appearance. But besides that, it was a pretty standard interview.
