My interview for the Security Officer role at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel back in March 2016 was honestly the most laid-back interview I've experienced. I'd just finished over a year of overnight security at a hospital and was looking for a change. The interviewer's name escapes me, but the vibe was super chill and welcoming. We just chatted about security stuff for about 20-30 minutes. After that, I had to hang out for about 10 minutes while they made some calls, and then I got an offer pretty quickly. How many officers they need really impacts your interview, though. Depending on the season and their staffing needs, they might adjust who they hire to meet those goals. The basic requirements are the same, but they can be a bit flexible on who they accept.

I applied on 9/10 and a recruiter called me on 10/2 for a phone screen which went well. She said she'd let me know something the next week. I emailed her on 10/17 and she said the process was delayed and she'd update me early the following week. I emailed again on 10/24 and followed up on 10/25. I got a generic rejection email. I asked for feedback but she said she wasn't a decision-maker. Then on Saturday 10/26 I got another rejection email, likely from the ATS. This experience highlights how TA leadership should better enable and hold recruiters accountable for the candidate experience.

Got a call from the recruiter, scheduled an interview for the next day. I interviewed with him, then went to meet the hiring manager in the casino. I got the official offer and passed my drug screening all on the same day. A background screening and gaming commission approval for my license happened about two days later. I started orientation a week after that first call. Make sure to be ready and wear a casual suit.

I had a 15-minute phone call with the spa manager after emailing her my resume, and then scheduled an in-person interview for later that week. The in-person interview was 30 minutes, followed by a 30-minute demonstration of massage techniques on the spa manager. After I accepted the position, the approval process for the gaming license commission, which all Mystic Lake employees must pass, took six weeks.
