First, I had a phone screen that was casual and not technical. Then, I went onsite for interviews with three engineers where we worked on simple string manipulation algorithms on a whiteboard. After that, I met with senior engineers and three managers. The interviews with the managers were informal, focusing on my past work experiences and career aspirations.

I was contacted by an internal recruiter after they found my resume online. Even though I didn't have the exact amount of experience the job called for, the hiring manager wanted to interview me because they liked my background and my previous company. After a phone screen, I was set up to meet with the hiring manager for about 30-45 minutes the next week. I got a company presentation and some documents to finish before my interview. The hiring manager was really chill and easy to talk to; we were interrupted a few times but it didn't really disrupt things. One of the interruptions was the Founder of the Company, who was also really chill and easygoing. The interview ended up going twice as long as planned. The hiring manager mentioned they were deciding between a candidate with more years of experience and me. I knew I was a bit underqualified, but it was still a good experience.

The interview process was pretty good. People were nice and asked good-sense questions. The office environment was really spacious and nice. They asked some general java questions, some search engine and hadoop questions. I got a sense that the job will be java-focused (until later on finding out that this company actually relies on an awkward language call ocaml).
