Technical Other

This was a terrible and nasty interview, possibly a fake hiring. It started with a long writing question where I had to submit a written answer. During the interview itself, the interviewer seemed uninterested, turning off their camera. I suspect they were trying to steal my ideas for their own innovations, which is ironic given how awful their product is and their lack of investment in GCP or professionals. They kept calling themselves a startup.

Had a really quick phone call with them, like just one short review. They asked me some easy questions about my skills and background.

Behavioral Other

Besides the initial recruiter chat, the interview process really needs work. It wasn't a great or smooth experience and felt kind of disrespectful. The leaders seem to lack experience and act like they can't learn from people who've been managing for way longer. Lots of the questions didn't really fit the job and felt like they were pulled from a random Google search or made up on the spot without much thought. The cognitive tests are really old, used too much, and are known to be discriminatory. A lot of people even find them offensive. A quick LinkedIn search would show how most candidates feel about them now. It would be smart for MyCOI to ditch them and hire someone who knows about diversity trends to help them actually find good candidates, improve their interviewing, and give candidates feedback.

It was a simple experience-based interview. They asked about my insurance background, previous jobs, familiarity with endorsements and customer service, time management abilities, comfort with remote work, and if I'm a team player. Also asked about commercial insurance experience and availability.
