Physician Assistant
The interview had the CEO asking about my experience and what I could bring to the company. It was a strange encounter. He seemed more interested in how I could benefit his wallet instead of talking about the company and its values. He spent 10-15 minutes talking about his own financial journey, starting with a low salary during residency and building a successful company. I'm not sure how this was relevant to the interview. I would avoid this opportunity and declined moving forward.
- What is your background and experience?
Patient Services Representative
I applied through Indeed and got an email to fill out a formal application. After that, I was contacted to schedule a virtual interview. The interview was on Zoom and was easy to set up. I interviewed with Stephanie, who was really nice. She was super excited about the company, and it was contagious. It was a simple back-and-forth interview where she asked about my future goals, desires, and interests. There were no tricky or hard questions. They mainly wanted to see if I'd be a good fit for talking with patients every day. She said anyone can learn the technical parts of the job, but they need someone who genuinely wants to help people and is comfortable talking on the phone.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
- Can you elaborate on your previous roles in customer service?
Communications Director
I applied in September and had a colleague reach out to the recruiter for me. I followed up but didn't hear back. A couple of months later, the position was still posted, so I found a different recruiter who responded quickly on LinkedIn. A few days after that, another recruiter called and asked if I could chat. I was 10 minutes from an appointment. He insisted on 30 minutes and said he'd call in an hour. I missed that call but called him back within 30 minutes and left a message. The day passed, so I messaged him on LinkedIn, and we scheduled an appointment. Two days later, I was waiting for his call. He was 15 minutes late, so I pinged him on LinkedIn, and then he called. I started the interview by asking about the salary range, as a previous posting was below my range. We confirmed we were in each other's range and began a 40-minute screening interview. At the end, he asked, 'What's the lowest salary you'll take for this role?' I was taken aback and said I'd need to know more about the role and CEO's expectations first. Two weeks later, I got a call from another recruiter. The first recruiter had left the company, and his notes were inaccessible. The new recruiter wanted to do the screening interview again. I agreed but first asked him to confirm the salary range. He didn't know it offhand and tried to find it while we were on the phone. He apologized, said he'd confirm it, and get back to me. I knew he wouldn't. 16 days later, I messaged him to follow up and share my thoughts on how I was treated. His response included: '...yes I do have the salary range for this position yet I have had other priorities to attend before the end of this year.' I advise staying away from this company.
- Regarding compensation, what is the minimum salary you would accept for this position?
Medical Receptionist/Customer Service/Accounting
I applied online and they got back to me the same day to schedule a virtual interview that was about 30 minutes. Then, I had to go in for a final interview onsite to meet with a hiring manager. The place was neat and tidy. The interview went well and they asked me some basic questions for about an hour. I emailed them a few days later to say thanks for the chance to interview and they let me know about 3 business days after my onsite interview with an offer.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations?
- Describe a situation with a coworker you had difficulty with and how you maintained professionalism.
