Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Music & Arts.
Sales Associate
Most of the interview focused on my availability regarding my school schedule and how well I could work with others on a team. Having prior experience with the company, either as a student or a loyal customer, is a definite plus. Musical instrument skills aren't as crucial for this role as they might be for full-time positions, so I wouldn't spend too much time detailing my proficiency with instruments like the violin, guitar, or flute.
- What is your availability like considering your school schedule?
Sales Associate
It really depends on how urgently we need to fill positions. If we're in a bind, the hiring process is quick and effective. You'll get a call, have a brief phone chat, and then meet with the manager you'd be working with. If that meeting goes well, you'll then interview with the district manager, and you'll be set to start by the next payday. We generally offer temporary roles during August. You might even get a permanent position afterward if there's still a need. If we're not in a rush, your best bet is to drop off your resume when the manager is in, and hope we're hiring. Don't bother asking for an application.
- What sales experience do you have?
Sales Associate
The interview process has changed from in-person to completely online on ADP. There is a test which every applicant has failed since it began. It's also incredibly hard to get into the company unless you go through a connection with the manager in person.
- How would you handle a customer's objection to purchasing supplemental supplies for a sale, like a guitar case?
