Applied online and got contacted quick. First there was an interview, then a case study that took hours, and finally another interview. I felt pretty bummed out after. The first chat was cool, but then they hit me with a big case study that felt like way too much work for one person unpaid, like a whole team's job. I put a lot into it, thinking we'd talk about it in the next interview. But the last interview was weird, they said they wouldn't ask me questions and it was just for me to ask them stuff, even though I'd just done this big assignment. The case study was dense and confusing, and even though I gave them a bunch of scaling strategies, they seemed to focus on silly stuff like naming conventions for employees, calling the CPO 'Gelato' and the recruiter 'Moosetracks.' They didn't even give feedback after all that. I asked about culture and transparency, and then got a generic rejection email the next day with no explanation. It really felt like they were using candidates for free consulting, which is not cool and kind of unethical. Their values don't match how they treated me and my time. Dodged a bullet, honestly. They need to fix their candidate experience.

So, first there was like a recruiter screen, then I had a bunch of interviews with the HR team and some leaders. The very last part was this case study presentation. It was super intense and really long, honestly felt like a lot for the level of the role. I put in a ton of work, came up with some original ideas and strategies, but in the end, I just got a standard rejection email, zero feedback. The people were nice enough, but I'm kinda left wondering about how upfront they were and if they were clear about what they were looking for.

I interviewed for a role with Figure8/Museum of Ice Cream. The recruiter was great and informative. The founders have a very unique approach, with one famously asking, "What if all the water in the ocean was replaced with sprinkles?" While this unconventional "Silicon Valley visionary" style isn't for me, I respect those who can thrive in it. Ultimately, it wasn't a fit.

So I had an initial interview, and then they sent me a case study that took me about 4-5 hours to finish. After that, I had another interview where the interviewer just said she was there to answer questions and didn't ask me anything because my background was already proven by the case study. I asked her general questions about the company culture and working there. The next day, I got a basic rejection email. It was a bit strange because I put in time for two interview rounds and a long assignment. I tried to get feedback from two people involved in my hiring process, but I didn't hear back. I wonder if I touched on something sensitive about the company culture?
