Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Murphy Oil Corporation.
Store Manager
The interview was very laid-back. I met with the district manager at a steakhouse. I wore a suit, but the DM was in workout clothes and said I was overdressed. We mostly chatted because the assessment covered most of the questions. It was a really pleasant interview, and I felt like I had the job even before we finished eating.
- Tell me about your experience.
- What are your thoughts on my attire for this meeting?
- How do you feel you would do in this role?
Store Manager
You apply online and then you wait. After that, you fill out a detailed application and submit your resume. Then you take a physiological test and wait again. There was never any feedback. The job openings are static and may not be truly open. Murphy is constantly hiring at a store level due to high turnover.
- Were standard questions asked?
- Do you pass their testing?
- Do you pass their drug test?
Store Manager
I had a phone interview with a recruiter from the company, and then I interviewed with a District Manager. He/she told me great things about the company and left out all the cons about it.
- What was the reason for leaving your previous employer?
