I got an email pretty fast from a nice gentleman and then had a phone call to set up an interview at the credit union I applied for. The interview was with the assistant branch manager and branch manager. They were 30 minutes late to the interview, and I was 10 minutes early, which felt like a big red flag and unprofessional. The Assistant Manager said she respected my time by coming late even though that was a time best suited for them. The questions were strange and the Assistant Branch Manager seemed confused on what she was even asking. I got moved to another interview with the Regional Manager, but she was unprofessional, seemed disinterested, and yawned multiple times. The entire process felt demotivating and not respectful of my time. Maybe I got unlucky with the people hiring at that specific site.

I applied on 5/3/2025 and the Talent Acquisition Manager contacted me two days later to schedule a surprise phone interview for that same day, which I agreed to. The next day, she requested a virtual video interview, and I was available. For the third interview, scheduled for the following day (Wednesday, 5/7/2025), I met with the VP of HR. He mentioned that all interviews would conclude by the next Tuesday, 5/13/2025. I followed up on 5/13/2025 with the manager for an update. Her response was, “I am wrapping up second round interviews this week and will have an update for you at the end of the week early next week. Thank you for your patience”. Despite finding her response unprofessional, I wished her luck. A week later, on Wednesday, 5/21/2025, I had still not received an update, so I emailed the VP of HR. He did not reply, but shortly after, the manager sent me a rejection email. It seems I was either rejected for inquiring about an update or they had already decided to reject me and prolonged the process unnecessarily, showing a lack of consideration. This experience, along with similar ones shared by others online, highlights a concerning pattern of poor candidate treatment. While I understand the demands of recruiting, a simple update email takes minimal effort, especially for candidates who accommodate the interviewers' schedule. My experience as an HR professional interviewing for an HR role makes me question how non-HR candidates are treated.

This was a messy interview process and frankly a waste of my time. The recruiter called to set up a time, but spoke like we'd already talked a lot about the job, which we hadn't. The interview was set, but then got rescheduled last minute. I finally got interviewed by a new leader who couldn't really explain anything about the hiring process, the company, its culture, or what the job was actually about. After the interview, when I tried to follow up with the interviewer and recruiter, I heard nothing back. Two months later, I just got a generic email about my application.

I applied back in August and got an email from HR the next month to come in. The vibe was good as soon as I walked in. After filling out some paperwork, the receptionist took my resume again. I was then taken to a room to meet with a manager and supervisor. They were friendly and made me feel at ease, even though I was a bit nervous. They asked me some questions and I got to answer them without feeling any pressure. The interview with them lasted about 30 minutes. After that, I met with HR for about 20 minutes. She was nice too and went over everything with me. She told me to email her if I had any questions. It was a great experience, honestly one of the best I've had. They really helped calm my nerves. I sent a thank you email and am now waiting to hear back.
