I went through several rounds with an Engineering Director, other Engineering Managers, and some Engineers. They asked me about my background, technical knowledge, and other things to see if I would be a good fit. The interviews felt open and fair, and the people interviewing me were nice, which made me feel positive about the whole thing. The recruiter I dealt with was really helpful and made the process smooth.

The interview process started with an initial call with a recruitment partner. This was followed by a call with the Head of Engineering and a Senior Engineer. The final stage was a call with a Principle Engineer and another Senior Engineer. Overall, it was a good experience, and the interviewers were friendly and approachable. Unfortunately, I received a rejection email after the third stage with feedback that my current role's engineering process/practices didn't align with Multiverse's needs. This was surprising, as I had mentioned my desire to explore new opportunities and diversify my experience. They are looking for continuous delivery and autonomous teams, while my current role involves a mix of waterfall and agile development for various reasons. The feedback stated my team is "process heavy," which I don't believe is accurate. It's disappointing to be rejected on these grounds, especially given Multiverse's stated mission of championing opportunity, which seems contradictory to their internal hiring practices. I wouldn't recommend applying unless you perfectly match their specific criteria.

Started with an initial chat with the talent lead about my experience and a few competency-based EM questions. Honestly, for a company that talks so much about feedback, I was pretty disappointed with what I got at the end. They just said 'other candidates are more closely aligned with the role requirements.' Which is fine, but without any details, it's just a generic rejection and doesn't help me for the future.
