Customer Success Manager
Multiverse's hiring process feels arrogant, heavily emphasizing their four core traits over actual experience. It's a lengthy and repetitive cycle for what seems like a non-senior, lower-paid role. You're made to feel inadequate for not having exceptional personal life examples. They didn't really ask about my professional background or what I could contribute, but instead focused on proving how unique I am. I suspect this approach causes them to overlook great candidates. The hiring managers I met seemed to enjoy making interviewees uncomfortable. While I wasn't offered the job, the interview process itself was off-putting.
- Besides professional or educational background, what are five qualities that contribute to a strong CV?
Customer Success Manager
So, I had a couple of informal chats first, one with recruitment and one with the hiring manager. Then, it got a bit more serious with an interview and a presentation. Recruitment called me before the interview to go over what they needed, which was a 60-minute presentation about me and why I'd be good for the role. I asked a bunch of questions to figure out exactly what they wanted and spent ages putting together the presentation, which was tough with my current job. On the interview day, the hiring manager was late, didn't send a Zoom link, and seemed annoyed. I did my presentation, and it seemed okay at first since they didn't interrupt much. But then they cut me off, saying I'd gone over time, even though they were late. They hinted I'd wasted their time by not asking upfront what they wanted. This was super annoying because I'd already prepped with recruitment and asked what they were looking for. They told me to go away, think about my mistakes, email them my thoughts, and do another presentation. Honestly, I wasn't going to do that because I felt they'd wasted my time and disrespected me. Apparently, they like to 'throw people off' to see how they handle pressure, which sounds like a toxic environment and not for me. Then I got a snarky email saying they weren't moving forward because I didn't thank them for their time afterwards, which I wasn't even bothered about!
- You've focused a lot on yourself, but do you actually know what I'm looking for in a candidate?
- What are your thoughts on what you could have done better?
- What did you think about the presentation?
Customer Success Manager
I had a brief initial phone call with the hiring manager to discuss the role and see if I was a good fit. It was very straightforward and made me want to apply. Then, there was another phone screening where I could learn more about the company and the hiring manager could dive deeper into my background. After that, we had our first video interview, which was quite intense, simulating a client call and requiring me to think fast while getting real-time feedback. I really enjoyed it and appreciated how the interviewer pushed me constructively. The next interview was similar, with the global director of CS, and it was just as challenging and fun.
- Why are you a good fit for this position?
