It was a standard interview process, starting with an initial phone screen and then moving to onsite interviews. There weren't any super tough or detailed questions. The hiring manager was professional, but the rest of the interview team seemed a bit less polished. It's a manufacturing place, and I was a bit surprised to see one interviewer in a classic black concert tee shirt. The interviewers also seemed a bit taken aback that I was interviewing with them. One asked, with a tone of disbelief, "Why do you want to work here?" I got the strong feeling that nobody seemed happy there, and there was maybe a slight hint of hostility. The company's electronic component markets have been in a major slump, and they aren't matching their 401K contributions right now, which makes me think they're having cash flow issues. Lots of cubicles were empty, and it looks like they're running with the bare minimum staff. The building itself was clean, but the outside grounds looked like they hadn't been landscaped in a while. That's the rundown of my experience.

The interview process was friendly and not overly difficult, but it did involve some in-depth questions about my reasoning and past decisions, which I felt was to assess my fit with the team. It wasn't highly technical, possibly because the interviewer's background wasn't as strong in that area to really challenge me.

It was a full day interview process, I spoke with several managers. I also had a meeting with the HR manager that lasted about an hour. This was an intense conversation where he asked many questions about my ability to work with a team.
