I first connected with a third-party recruiter who was working with MTV. After a couple of phone interviews, I had to travel from my place in Fort Lauderdale to Miami Beach. I was really expecting a lot from this, feeling very overqualified. But honestly, I don't think I even met anyone real there. It was wild how many artificial-seeming people I saw. Regardless of whether I got an offer, I knew I didn't want to be part of that scene.
