& Process

The interview process usually involves screening the application, then a first phone or video chat, followed by an in-person or panel interview, some skill tests, checking references, and then either a job offer or a rejection.

Applied for the Helpdesk Support Administrator role on Oct 6th, 2014. Got a call for an interview and met the employer on Oct 10th. Met with three people: Karen Turpin (Help Desk Supervisor), Pio Egan (Supervisor of Network Operations), and Jennifer Shepard (HR Rep). Interviewed with Karen for about 30 minutes; she was impressed with my resume and gave me tips for the next interview. Met with Pio for about 10 minutes; he had a meeting right after. I used Karen's tips and made an impression. Was supposed to meet with Karen again, but she wasn't there. Pio left me in the cafeteria for 10-15 minutes waiting for Karen. She eventually came and told me Jennifer was in a different building and gave me directions. Met Jennifer, who asked some cryptic questions about high-pressure situations and my salary requirements. I asked the job's salary range, but she dodged it and asked my requirements again. I said 45,000. She mentioned they wanted to decide by November 11th because someone was leaving. Sent a thank you email to Jennifer, asking her to forward it to Pio and Karen. A few days later, Jennifer asked me to fill out more info on their website, which I did instantly. Waited about a week and followed up. Called and spoke with Jennifer, asking about candidate search and decisions. She said they were unsure about interviewing more people, suggesting I wasn't the top candidate. My application status on the career portal has been 'under review' since Oct 6th. On Nov 11th, I called and left voicemails for Jennifer and Karen inquiring about the status and reiterating my interest. Never heard back. I emailed Jennifer inquiring about the position today, as it's been a couple of weeks past their projected hire date. She responded stating they decided not to pursue my candidacy and apologized if I didn't receive her voicemail last week. This is understandable, though I never received the call. The process was very professional despite the cafeteria wait.

Applied on-line for a job in Edison, NJ. Was contacted and pre-screened by a HR rep via email and phone. A second HR rep set up a phone screen with a departmental manager. Had a good phone screen with the department manager. Never heard again from MTF. The people I spoke with would not return email or phone call follow-ups. It was a very unprofessional reflection on the organization's Edison, NJ location, especially on the HR department.

I had my first interview over a month ago and it went really well. Then last week I had my second interview with two other people, and I felt that went good too. I came on my lunch break and was told it wouldn't take as long as the first interview. Once I was done with the side-by-side, the supervisor asked if I had to get back to work and I said yes. I now see the position was reposted.
