First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MRY.
Software Engineer
We started with a coding test, often on platforms like HackerRank or Leetcode. The questions covered Data Structures and Algorithms, problem-solving, logical reasoning, and sometimes multiple-choice questions about fundamental computer science concepts. Then there were technical interviews, three rounds in total. The first round was focused on DSA and coding, where I had to solve algorithmic problems using a code editor. The main topics were Arrays, Strings, and Linked Lists.
- Can you solve algorithmic problems using a code editor?
- Can you solve algorithmic problems on Arrays?
- Can you solve algorithmic problems on Strings?
Experience Designer
A recruiter from MRY reached out via email to set up a phone interview, which happened a day later within the same week. I connected with the Senior Experience Designer, who was really friendly and made me feel welcome. They began by discussing MRY and elaborating on the role and what they were looking for. The conversation went for 30 minutes as planned, and when our time was up, the interviewer nicely wrapped things up.
- Can you walk me through your professional background?
- Could you elaborate on some of your portfolio projects?
Analyst
I came in for an interview with 3 people at the office. They all seemed confused about the role they were interviewing me for and whether a position was actually open. It was also apparent that they had all been working there for less than a year, so they couldn't offer much insight into the company. I was frustrated about making the trip to New York for a company that wasn't even sure about its job openings.
- What is something you are proud of that isn't listed on your resume?
Community Manager
I had a phone chat with a recruiter first. Then I went in person for a chat with the hiring manager and then another chat with the recruiter about salary and benefits. Then they gave me the offer.
- What are your thoughts on the future of social media?
- Which social platforms do you actively use?
- Can you share the most innovative social media trend you've observed this year?
