Project Manager
I was contacted by a recruiter about a Project Manager role. The process included a phone screen, a personality test, and then three rounds of interviews with peers and the hiring manager. The scheduling was efficient and I was getting good feedback until the final interview with the VP. He suggested a potential additional interview with the CHRO. This is when things became difficult. Communication stalled, and the recruiter couldn't reach the VP or CHRO for a day and a half. I ended up accepting another offer due to the delay. I believe this was influenced by bias, as there are no people of color on the US team, and I am a woman of color. They may have used the timing as an excuse not to hire me, despite my qualifications and positive interview feedback.
- How would you secure leadership support for your projects?
Project Manager
I went through an online test, then a phone interview, then another phone interview, and then they asked me to come onsite for an in-person interview. After that, there was radio silence for weeks, even after I sent my availability. Then, a different recruiter reached out to schedule another phone interview. She didn't really explain why I seemed to be restarting the process. Partway through the interview, she casually mentioned that the responsibilities and title had been downgraded. I told her I wasn't interested anymore but to keep me in mind if the original position opened up.
- Describe a situation where you had to deal with a challenging client or customer.
Project Manager
They were very clear in communicating with me directly via email or phone and outlining next steps and what to expect. They usually have a multi step interview process but they consolidated this process for me since I was a little out of the area of the office I would need to interview at. I met with a member of the department I would be in, the manager of the department and the director of the department in one visit. The application process also included an online logic assessment test which they also have you retake in person at the office as part of the interview process to confirm the initial assessment results.
- How would I know that you are frustrated?
