The interviewer didn't show up for the first interview we scheduled. We rescheduled for the next week, but when we met, their camera wasn't on. We ended up doing the interview on Google Meet, and it was hard to tell if it was just a phone call or a video call.

I had a great first interview where they flew me down to Greenville, NC to tour their studio. The space is impressive. However, they later rejected me, stating that they didn't like my technical background. This was surprising because they were aware of my technical background when they invited me, and it aligned with their usual hiring criteria. I found this reason for rejection to be unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend applying here.

The interview process took about 2 weeks from application to the second interview, involving two main stages. First was a phone screen with an internal recruiter, which was standard and informative. Then, a Zoom call with the Head of Talent Acquisition. This second interview felt a bit unusual, typical for a grassroots creative production company with less experienced operations staff. It seemed like they wanted to deter candidates with the tasks, but the requirements were in line with normal production standards. The interviewer was late, conducted the interview from her phone with poor audio, and appeared disorganized. The interview, scheduled for 30 minutes, was cut short to about 20 minutes due to the late start. It was mostly behavioral questions related to production. I was presented with a scenario about contestants in glass boxes needing to use the bathroom and asked for a solution. I suggested a curtain-based privacy shield, which was rejected as against the rules. I was given illogical hurdles and limited time to find a creative solution due to the interviewer's lateness and roadblocks. I was asked to provide a solution within 30 minutes, with the possibility of a call from the 'boss man' at an unspecified time, followed by a potential trip to NC the next day. I followed up via email with three solutions within 25 minutes. Two were rejected, but I stood by the third, an industry-standard modification of my initial idea, which was deemed acceptable. Despite this, I was ghosted. Later, a video was released showing a privacy-shielded cage on wheels, similar to my suggestion. I followed up again two weeks later and was ghosted once more.

About 6 weeks after applying on Mr. Beast Jobs website, I got an email inviting me to a 15 min phone screening. I booked the soonest available slot and was called promptly by a hiring manager. He was extremely friendly and didn't ask many probing questions, he just "gave me the floor." I told him a short recap of my work experience and asked some brief questions. The call only took 8 minutes and I felt like it left on a good note. I was told that our phone conversation recording would be shared with the team and then I would receive a response. I was informed by email the following day that I would not be moving forward in the hiring process. I reached out to the hiring manager for feedback to which he responded that he thought I was incredible as a candidate, however, the team preferred another candidate with a slightly more relevant background. I thanked him and encouraged him to reach out to me in case of any future opportunities.
