Client Service Specialist
I had an assessment test first and was told I did really well. Then I had a phone call with a recruiter to set up an in-person interview. They said they were an HCM company, but in the interview, they said they only do payroll, which is not what they said on the phone or in the job posting. Their website talks about HCM solutions that they don't even have yet. They couldn't even do what they claim to offer. They should be honest about the job description to save people's time. No thank you!
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Career Development Manager
The interview process was multistage, starting with a casual phone call and moving to in-person interviews. After the initial phone call, I completed an online assessment for personality and multitasking. Then, I had on-site interviews where I met with a panel of MPAY employees. They really focused on getting to know me beyond my work history, to see if I'd be a cultural fit. Some questions were typical, while others were more difficult.
- Can you share your most significant accomplishment?
- Could you describe your previous work experience?
- How do you see yourself fitting into the company culture?
Payroll Tax Service Specialist
The interview process kicked off with a really long stress test. It involved answering middle school math problems while simultaneously reading and deciding how to reply to emails. You'd get about 6 emails at once, and you'd have about 60 seconds to deal with them, all while trying to figure out these complex math problems that also came in with a 60-second time limit. Make sure your browser is compatible, because if it's not, the test might not load properly, and having to ask for a restart is pretty awkward. If you manage to pass this hour-long test, you'll then have a phone interview. After that, there was a face-to-face panel interview with a few department heads. They asked some of the same questions from the phone interview. The vibe seemed really casual. They mentioned meeting the CEO as the next step, which felt strange since I wasn't sure if I was still being considered. The job and atmosphere seem like they could be a good fit for the right person. They mentioned that the company covers all benefits in full, which is a nice perk. I'm not totally clear on how the 'unlimited time off' works, but they did emphasize that the end of the quarter and year are critical, so I'd guess those are blackout periods. My main advice is to be ready to talk a lot during the group interview, and maybe have a question prepared for each department head since they seem to have multiple openings. It looks like a solid entry-level role for new grads. Honestly, some of the questions didn't give me much insight into the actual position, and I was a bit confused about the role itself. It was listed as 'payroll tax specialist' but they kept saying it had nothing to do with payroll.
- Can you tell me the reason for your career change?
- What are your weekend activities?
Client Specialist
I had a phone call with the team manager and then scheduled an in-person interview. Before the in-person meeting, I did some computer testing at home to check my multitasking and personality. I met with the team manager and the senior support specialist for the interview. A couple of days later, a company VP contacted me for a background check form. I had to retake some of the tests a few days after that. Then, I got an email saying they decided not to move forward with my application.
- How fast do you think you can pick up new software?
- In a single word, how would you describe yourself?
