First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Movers Specialty Service.
Operations Coordinator
The HR person was a mess, late and gave bad info. The first call with HR was fine, and they set up a second interview, telling me it'd be with the hiring manager. But it was actually a panel with a Director and two other people, and they seemed like they'd micromanage. The job was high volume for really low pay, though the benefits were apparently good. The questions were typical, but a lot of them for an entry-level job at entry-level pay. They asked for a writing sample but never gave feedback. I got a generic rejection email within a week.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe a time you experienced failure.
- Could you elaborate on X from your resume?
Operations Dispatcher
It was a decent interview, but that was a few years ago and the department has changed since then. It was really quick, they seemed to need people to fill spots, but it was a good experience overall. The interviewers were welcoming and informative. They seemed willing to train people new to the industry.
- Could you share your relevant experience?
- Could you share your irrelevant experience?
Switchboard Operator/Receptionist
I applied and got a call within a week to set up an interview. The first interview was a bit over an hour long and I met with HR, the department manager, and did a quick job shadow. Then I got a call for a second interview. This time I met the same people and one more department manager. After the interview, they made me a job offer.
- Can you tell me about a difficult situation you encountered at work and how you managed to resolve it?
Intern
You apply online or through the website and then HR calls you. The phone screening is brief and includes behavioral questions. The in-person interview is more behavioral questions but with more specifics and scenario-type questions. It's pretty standard if you know the kind of questions HR departments like to ask.
- Tell me about a time you were asked to lead a project to completion.
