First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Movement Labs.
Data Fellow
The interview was quick and straightforward. The questions were geared more towards your alignment with the organization (i.e. shared progressive values, passion for fighting for progressive policies, etc.). I personally find this interview approach more comfortable than a standard live technical interview.
- Why are you passionate about fighting against fascism?
Digital Operations Associate
It was an easy, short interview with someone who was just onboarded. It felt very casual and conversational. I didn't hear back for months, even after reaching out twice. They ended up suggesting I apply for their fall fellowship program.
- How do you keep yourself organized?
Organizer
The interviewer was really open to answering my questions about the program. They were honest if they didn't know something, but they made sure to follow up with the information and got back to me after the interview.
- What is my availability and when can I begin?
Data Manager
This was my first interview experience that made me regret applying. My initial experience before the interview was good. The recruiter who handled my phone screen and initial contact was professional and easy to talk to. The video interview had two interviewers. One of them asked professional and thoughtful questions. The other interviewer was unprofessional, spending the whole time rolling his eyes or refusing to speak. I initially thought he was just distracted, and I felt sorry for the other interviewer who would get no response when asking for his opinion, leading to long, awkward silences. When he finally asked me a question, he seemed annoyed, as if he was forced to be there. He rolled his eyes multiple times during the interview. I've been in this field for a long time and have never seen someone act like that in a professional setting, especially an interview. The fact that he had a director title suggests potential larger issues within the organization. It's also worth noting that my last communication with them was two months ago, right after that interview. I'm actually okay with being ghosted this time.
- Tell me about yourself and your past experiences.
- Can you discuss your proficiency with relevant software and technical skills?
